Looking for tutorial on animating incisions (for medical animation)

Hi,

Apologies if this is not the right forum for this. I just got my commercial license for Cinema 4D and almost immediately received a potential freelance job offer, and of course there’s a short turnaround time. I’m trying to figure out if I have the skills to pull it off and the toughest part is that I may need to show a surgical instrument making an incision. I’ve figured out how to model an open incision, close it using a pose morph and then use a morph deformer to make it look like the incision is opening or closing. Of course, the problem is that in its “closed” state, it isn’t seamless, i.e. it doesn’t look like unbroken skin. Not sure if this is something that will be called for in the animation, but I want to be ready in case it is. Any suggestions? I suppose another option would be to use an animated Boolean object to “cut” an opening, but then there is the problem of the interior texture of the incision, which will be the texture of the cutting object and will animate with that object, instead of being “glued” to the surface that is being cut away.

Thanks in advance.

—Mark
