Material node system bump map

Hello, I’m trying to get comfortable using the material node editor and came up against my first challenge regarding bump/normals;

Is it possible to use noise nodes like noise, complex noise, veins etc as a bump map using the material node system?

I tried going through the “normal”, “normalize” and “displacement” node first before plugging into the normal input of the diffuse node and it doesn’t work!
I remember in prior versions of c4d, to use the normalizer, the noise node had to be set to UV mode rather than world, but you could get around this by just plugging it into the bump channel instead.
But now we no longer have a bump channel, so what is the work-around?
